2025 Seedling Sales
The Talking Farm’s annual seedling sales will begin on March 20, 2025! Members at any level get exclusive access to the online shop and 20% off between March 20-23. The seedling sale will open to the public on March 24th. Please note that seedlings are limited in quantity due to grow space limitations.
The Talking Farm’s seedlings are locally and organically grown by our farm staff and come in 3″ pots. We will offer 43+ varieties of tomatoes (heirloom, cherry, and slicers), cucumbers, squash, eggplant, flowers, greens, peppers, and herbs. Order your seedlings in advance online and pick them up during a pickup date of your choice. Pickup dates are May 10th, 14th & 24th at the Howard Street Farm. As with prior years, there will be no in-person sales but some excess seedlings and potting soil will be for sale during seedling pickup times.

Cowsmo Potting Mix (green bag) is a sand-free mix designed for use in seed starting. It is meant especially for starting plants in small containers that will then be transplanted into larger containers or into the ground. The Green Mix is also ideal for soil blocking, because it contains materials that hold together well after they are stamped into blocks. It is sand-free.
The ingredients in the Green Potting Mix include Peat, Cowsmo Compost*, perlite, rock phosphate, meat and bone meal, and kelp, which are all sourced from Wisconsin and Minnesota and mixed and packaged on-site.

*Cowsmo compost is made from dairy manure on a blacktop surface using the windrow system. It is organic compost is made from manure rather than leaves and twigs, which gives the compost nutrients for crop growth, unlike leaf compost. Because the compost is made on a blacktop surface, sand and pests do not get into the compost. Cowsmo compost is odorless and relatively weed-free.
